Blackbird Fabworx Single Diagonal. Hard Dog is the meter stick of Miata roll bars but this SoCal fab house is on the rise. The Blackbird checks all the boxes for me and looks great while doing it.

It's $475 for a painted black one like in the picture—not far off from a comparable Hard Dog. Looking forward to buying one over summer, along with a new tan vinyl top. I want to go roofless more than I have in the past, also want to hit the track (perhaps during Miatas at Mazda Raceway in October).

Is it approved by the SCCA or whatever governing racing body? Cause im pretty sure the Hard dog is.

First of all, certain Hard Dogs are are legal for various organizations while others are not.

From what I can tell.... this particular roll bar is NASA spec and a different Blackbird bar is SCCA spec. It's hard to be sure because the company doesn't have a website but the man behind the scenes is pretty active on forums, gives some info there.

edit: diameter is 1.75" which I believe is on par with Hard Dog's Hard Core lineup (their track-oriented bars)

A roll bar takes an old Miata from "chick car" to respect instantly.
